A great big congrats to the eastern “A” Skeeters.  Tom Nichols (1st), Bill Stavola (2nd) and Dan Clapp (3rd) swept the Nationals in Wisconsin and made history.  This is the first time the top 3 boats were all from the East.

Not much in the line of club races except the DN’s.  Jim Hadley (1st), Dave Clapp (2nd) and Doug MacFarland (3rd).  Doug was also the recipient of the “Snoozer Award”.  All that ice and only the DN’s handed in scores.  What’s up with that?  Fleet captains – that’s your job!  So come on and start pushing your fleets early.  Let’s not have a repeat of this year.

My hat goes off to Rear Commodore Dan Vought for his running of the National Sweeps.  The conditions were far from ideal but he was determined to pull it off and that he did.  He and his committee deserve a great big round of applause.

We had a fantastic time around the club this winter with lots of ice and little wind.  Thanks to Vice Commodore Dave Minton and his crew for the great lunches and the fantastic barbeque on the last day of the “Sweeps”.

With the winter closing of the club, a lot of stuff is happening.  Nelson Macan has already painted his two boats and they’re on the trailer ready for next season.  Scott Wingerter and Jeff Morton are doing a bang-up job on their “B” boat.

The Rocket project is in full swing.  As of 5/12/05, both port and starboard side are laid up and ready to go.  So if you have nothing to do on Thursday nights, stop by and lend a hand.  All help will be appreciated.

Hope you all have a great summer.  See you in the fall.

PS: Don’t forget fireworks at the club on July 3rd.
